Review of Cam’ron’s “Sharpshooter” (Single)
What happens when a 5-time WWE Champion, a million-seller rapper, and a Canadian financial company cross paths? Answer: “Sharpshooter”
Bret “The Hitman” Hart, Cam’ron, and Sharpshooter Funding CEO Paul Pitcher teamed up so that Cam’ron is uniquely positioned at the musical face of the organization. As part of the project, Cam’ron was set to record an entire original album of songs dedicated solely to Sharpshooter Funding. Check out the title track:
The partnership and music have made some waves around the music, finance, and entertainment industries, garnering attention from the likes of MTV, Yahoo Finance, The Source, and even TMZ:
“[Cam] and Brett hung together for a whole weekend and went to a Ravens game together. He was down from the very beginning.” In fact, Pitcher says the Harlem MC was so pumped about the partnership, he recorded a WHOLE ALBUM of original music dedicated to Sharpshooter funding.
The entire album has yet to surface but the ingenuity behind the concept continues to reverberate among the three industries. As for the quality of the track itself? It’s tightly produced and has a grandiose backing track a la “Carmina Burana.” And while many artists have written product placements into their lyrics, it’s an interesting take to write an entire piece inspired by a small business loan company. Considering that, it’s a pretty dope track.
